Law refers to a rule of being or of conduct, usually enforced by a set of institutions or an authority specially developed for that purpose. A law is an order or mode according to which an agent or a power acts. A law helps us in shaping various societies of our government, politics, economics and other governing societies in numerous ways. Without a law it is difficult to govern anything, it serves as the leading mediator in relations between the people. The stones of the system of laws were laid down in earlier times and are still followed by everyone. The history of laws is intimately connected to the development of civilization, the ancient Egyptian laws are formed in 3000BC, and it contained a civil code that was probably broken into twelve pieces. Old Testament is also one of the oldest surviving bodies, laws of which are still relevant to our modern legal systems. Many ancient societies also had no legal science of any kind; there was no word like “law” followed by them. All the modern constitutions contain laws which govern the working of all the related bodies.
All the activities in the system are governed by the laws, law governs a wide variety of social activities and various other terms are also based on laws developed by the special authorities. Indian constitution is a combination of diverse variety of laws that are responsible of governing each and every society related to them. The various laws followed by Indian constitution are banking laws, consumer laws, corporate laws, criminal and motor accident laws, direct tax laws, environment laws, family laws, foreign exchange laws, indirect tax laws, intellectual property laws, information technology laws, legal and professional laws, media laws, miscellaneous laws, NRI related laws, property laws, service and labor laws etc.
Civil rights or the laws for people defends the rights and privileges granted to citizens of India, they primarily include freedom of speech, slavery, vote and right to be treated equally. Corporate laws are related to creation, organization and dissolution of corporations. Criminal laws act in violation of a public law forbidding or commanding it. Criminal laws generally vary from state to state. Employment law is related to all areas of the employee/employer relationship except the negotiation process covered by labor law and collective bargaining. The other important laws are laws related to taxation, they involve payment of certain types of taxes like property tax, road tax, income tax, sales tax, service tax, entertainment tax, value added tax etc to the government or other related bodies.
